Charkan Scan-Raw Project


Introduction of the project:

The project aims to make gender bender mangas more accessible to the public outside Japan or make it more popular on the internet where this type is rare to be found.

But it is an acknowledgment. To have manga printed matter in its hand is much more rewarding that to have it in the digital format. If you really like history and have conditions to buy, buy and help the author.

Raw is a form that the people if relate material in the original language. Raw Japanese, Chinese or Korea exists. When this material is translated into another language, the new material if to become one scan(Work carried through for Scansub, Scanlator + Translator).

In the way of this work that exists in translating the Raw Hunter exists that looks raws to allow that other people translate. I am a Raw Hunter and I follow an ideology not to arrest me to a Scansub to be able to offer everything without restrictions.

Important Notices:

Fixed:

* I do not take off the pages at the time I scan, I'm not in a position to afford to buy 2 units of each title that scan.

* I use the site as MangaHelpers hosting files for several reasons:
1 - Ensure that the files not be deleted (even if no one download anything for 1 month for example)
2 - Read online mode
3 - Count downloads and pages read
4 - Large community of translators

* My project aims to offer a chance for all the world to read the manga. I will not remove any link even though the manga is licensed. I do this by global culture and not for money. Simply put, even if it is licensed in the USA, the raws remained available. Even if someone remove the file from the site MangaHelpers, I will restore what is my own elsewhere.

* Interested in translating a project. Send me a private message here on the forum or the forum MangaHelpers asking for raws in advance. Is to depend on the progress of other projects I can give priority in the raw.

* If you do not know English to write and express your wishes here. You can use 2 translators to help on occasion, I always give a way to understand any language well.

All are set to be scanned, I'm just waiting for some to be launched to perform a request to purchase large in amazon. The site to be launched will be the Mangahelpers. I accept suggestions for new projects, explicit sex will not be released (Obs.: "Joshi no Kokoroe!" was a mistake of mine, entered the list of works by luck). Reason: Hentais always scanned in some way but other mangas that do not follow this path does not call much attention, so their digitized versions do not appear. This rule may have its exceptions, prove to me that the hentai not received attention and think about it.

All are scanned at 1200 dpi, standard height of 1600px(maybe 2000/2400px next projects) and clean in GIMP

My nickname came about 12 years when I began to fully access the Internet. He is inspired by a game called "Chakan, the forever man". There are several reasons to keep the files on the site Mangahelpers. Here are:

- The file will not be deleted if it is a month without downloads.
- The file will not be removed automatically as in various hosting services.
- Better control of data on the popularity, downloads and page views.
- Reading online mode.
- Integration with the community that translation the volumes in other languages.
- Great community, 50% of the audience of the site is Japanese.
- Large public popularity increases, more chance of further volumes scanned.
- Large popularity, chances of becoming an animation.

But nothing prevents you to download the file and host of other services. At 1 week the volume of Oto x Maho should already being offered on blogs, they do not lose the opportunity to make money with downloads.

An example of control:

This volume 01 in less than a day has been downloaded 983 times (verified 14:00 [GMT -03:00]) and 3908 page views. This reflects the disclosure that I made in several communities including our own.

A word of warning about Ame no Chihare; the one download on Share that I could find is a laced file set up by the RIAJ to frustrate P2Pers. It asks for a password and offers a "website" where the password may be obtained, but trying to type the password in results in failure.

Ame Nochi Hare - Besides manga there is a song with that name, it increases the difficulty to find.

The main character is disguised as a woman to stay in school.

I do not know if this have a change in the future, but in the last chapter he saw his own reflection and realized that is very similar to her sister when dressed as a woman.

The character Eve is able to regenerate the body of people, I do not know if she would be able to transform him into a girl.

The latest scans that were done in a scanner of my company. As I take a vacation in September I plan to buy one of HP ScanJet G2410.

It comes with a good OCR program. See in practice whether a high-definition scanning, is it possible to OCR of kanji to improve the work of future translators.


If this is possible I will also offer txt with the text of manga. Someone has already done some OCR manga?

Using OCR software on manga sounds like an interesting idea. I wonder if the software would work with the various font styles that appear in manga. Let us know how it turns out.

I use a Canon all-in-one printer, which has a scanner built in. Nothing special, but it gets the job done.

By the way, I read somewhere that your typical photograph has a maximum DPI of 300, so there's not much point in scanning black-and-white manga at more than 200 DPI. Anyone else have suggestions on how to scan manga?

I've also thought about 'debinding' some books to make them scan better, but I always stop before destroying any of my good books. I assume debinding means that you cut off the binder so that the pages are loose, right?
